I was on my way home where i saw this man approaching another. First thing that came to mind, hmmz must be friends or something...until i heard their conversation. They were fighting over the queue in the taxi(by the roadside) 1 guy was fierce n the other while on one hand said he had waited equaly long he added its okay that he gave way in a very sarcastic manner. he added there were lots of taxis along the road. thoroughly amused i continued walking to see 2 unoccupied taxi's drive past me towards the crowd waiting for the taxi.
So what does this tell us? singapore has a long way to go before it can call itself a civilised society. petty fights between neighbours over nothing, people not knowing left from right on escalators, people not moving in on buses and blocking people alighting from MRTs all not unheard of and all very common. heck im guilty too. So whats the way to go then? education and campaigns. HAHA education. i haven heard anyone who said the love the system. Theres a real fine line between elitism and meritocracy, its all how you look at it. Campaigns = posters and advertisements that people don't read, read when they're waiting for people, or read cause it looks more colourful and exciting than the one next to it, while still waiting for someone. We have such a bright future ahead of us.
That is not to say there's no hope. There are day to day incidents which we just ignore or take for granted. Then again its highly irrational to go celebrating and shouting in joy "WOOHOO he held the lift door open for me. thats so nice of him" thats just 1 example im quoting yah.
Now a question comes to mind. Why the helldid jun yu post this? Jun yu doesnt know, but amazing how 1 incident alone can spark such "inspirational insights" to our everyday life.
